Why Copper Kettle

Direct Relationships

We know our roasters by name and visit origin farms. Every bean has a story we're excited to share.

Neighborhood First

Family-owned, hyperlocal, and rooted in Portland. We're here for the long haul and treat regulars like friends.

Craft Baking Daily

No frozen shipments. Our pastry chef bakes to order every morning starting at 6am, using organic flour and butter.

Our story

Built for the neighborhood

Copper Kettle opened in 2019 with one mission: be the place where neighbors become friends over a genuinely good cup of coffee. We chose our name for the ritual—the kettle whistle that slows everyone down.

Every espresso is pulled with intention. Every pastry is warm. The wifi password is written on a chalkboard because we want you to stay, not scroll. Dogs are welcome because they're part of the neighborhood too.

Open daily 7am–4pm. Located on SE Division Street in the heart of Portland's Jade District.

★★★★★

"Best espresso in Southeast Portland. The owners actually know the roasters' first names. That's the level of care we're talking about."

— longtime customer

★★★★★

"My dog has more friends here than I do. The patio is shaded, the pastries are unreal, and the wifi never drops."

— regular with a pup

★★★★★

"It's not just good coffee—it's the whole vibe. Quiet enough to work, warm enough to linger, real enough to feel like home."

Common questions

Can I order online or reserve a table?
We don't take online orders or table reservations—we like keeping things simple and first-come, first-served. Coffee is always fresh, and seating opens up quickly. For large groups, calling ahead is a kind courtesy so we can make sure there's room.
What time are the pastries available?
We bake fresh every morning and are fully stocked by 7am opening. Peak selection is 7am–10am. After that, availability depends on demand—popular items may sell out by early afternoon.
Do you have decaf espresso?
Yes. We source single-origin decaf just as carefully as our regular beans. Ask your barista about what's in rotation—it changes seasonally and is always worth trying.
Is your patio open year-round?
We're open year-round, and so is the patio. In winter, we provide heaters and blankets. Dogs are equally welcome rain or shine.
Do you host events or private bookings?
We occasionally host small tastings and roaster meetups. For events or private bookings, please call us directly at (503) 555-1234 to discuss details.
What are your WiFi details?
Free WiFi is available to all guests. The password and network name are written on a chalkboard near the register—we change it seasonally just to keep things fun.
